Memory Making at Hard Rock Cafe

Hard rock cafe koh samui restaurant view

At last – it’s here! Since 1971, when they opened their very first restaurant in London combining displays of pop and rock memorabilia with fabulous food and great music, they’ve gone from success to success, launching their unique brand in over 70 countries across the world. And now our small tropical island finally has the chance to share their unique concept with its very own Hard Rock Cafe Koh Samui!

And it has the ideal location too, being in the centre of the evening action just along from Soi Green Mango on Chaweng Beach Road. With its famous Rock Shop selling all the T-shirts, key-rings, glasses and other merchandise on the main road itself, the restaurant is just behind – and what a place it is too!

Mirrored ceilings, wood-panelling, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, discreet spotlighting, comfortable seating for 200, a large neon-lit bar with talented mixologists conjuring up their famous and exciting cocktails, and lots of sumptuous space combine to create a super-stylish air-conditioned dining environment. And then there’s the fascinating framed memorabilia that’s everywhere you look. The Hard Rock Cafe brand has the largest collection in the world which is continuously moved around to its ever-expanding list of locations. Amongst Samui’s fascinating items are one of Michael Jackson’s belts, a pair of Madonna’s shoes, a guitar belonging to Carlos Santana and even a pyjama-top owned and worn by the ‘King of Rock ’n’ Roll’ himself – Elvis Presley.

In addition to the wall-mounted memorabilia, there’re also many wide-screen TV’s dotted around playing Hard Rock Cafe’s very own music videos. And if there’s any particular track you like to see and hear, just have a word with one of the ever-friendly staff who will play your request(s) – it doesn’t come more inter-active than that! But a Hard Rock Cafe wouldn’t be complete without live music too, and there’s just that every night from 8:00 pm when a talented band performs upon a large stage in the outside courtyard where there’s seating for 90 more diners.

And there’s a wide variety of seating options there too, including barstools around the bar in front of the stage and magnificent comfy ‘sunbeds’ for two! A ‘sexy’ X-Men all-weather red-baize pool table is set to the left and a small swimming pool is over on the right which gives the place a great ‘beach club’ feel. And yes – you CAN use it whenever you wish (towels are provided).

If you’ve already had a Hard Rock Cafe dining experience elsewhere, then you’ll already know that the food and drink is as good as it gets too. There’s no skimping on quality here with all the spirits and juices being premium brands, with the produce for the cuisine being fresh and equally well-sourced.

“… and there’s even a pyjama-top owned
by the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ himself – Elvis Presley.

The menu is full of enticing dishes with a wide selection available in each category. For starters, the Jumbo Combo is a sure-fire winner as it’s a combination of various appetizers and comprises ‘Signature Wings’, ‘Onion Rings’, ‘Tupelo Chicken Tenders’, ‘Spinach Artichoke Dip’ with Parmesan flatbread and ‘Bruschetta’ or ‘Potato Skins’, served with honey mustard, hickory barbecue, sour cream and blue cheese dressing.

The main course dishes are also huge and the following two are probably the most popular – for very good reasons – and come highly recommended! First we have the Original Legendary Burger topped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, golden fried onion ring, crisp lettuce and vine-ripened tomato. And then there’s the fall-off-the-bone tender St. Louis-style Hickory-Smoked Ribs, rubbed with signature seasonings and basted with hickory barbecue sauce. Mmmm!

The desserts are enough for two – quite literally – and many do share them. Both the highly decadent Hot Fudge Brownie – vanilla ice-cream and hot fudge on a fresh brownie, topped with chopped walnuts, chocolate sprinkles, fresh whipped cream and a Maraschino cherry, and the Fresh Apple Cobbler with vanilla ice-cream and topped with walnuts and caramel sauce will prove my point perfectly.

Hard Rock Cafe promises to provide a unique dining experience for every single guest – and it certainly delivers on that vow. And that’s why happy memories are being made every night of the week in every one of their restaurants across the world – especially so in Hard Rock Cafe Koh Samui!

Hard Rock Cafe is open from 11:30 am with last food orders at 12:30 am (although snacks are available until the restaurant closes at 2:00 am)
